About the Cover

Cover Figure

On the cover: Co-localization of the bile duct epithelial marker cytokeratin-19 (red) and myofibroblast marker {alpha}-smooth muscle actin (green) in liver sections 12 weeks after bile duct ligation. Merged cytokeratin-19 and {alpha}-smooth muscle actin staining clearly demonstrates bile duct epithelial to mesenchymal transition. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) blocks such transition in vivo. (See page 1500).
