Intramuscular adipocyte development after Achilles tendon resection. Gastrocnemius muscles were excised and subjected to histologic analysis at 2, 4, and 8 weeks after Achilles tendon removal. At 2 weeks after surgery, the interstitium was extended and occupied by expanded interstitial cells. Development of ectopic adipocytes was apparent 4 weeks after Achilles tendon resection, and emerged adipocytes remained thereafter. Scale bar = 100 μm.

Expression of histamine H1 receptor in platelet-derived growth factor receptor α (PDGFRα)+ mesenchymal progenitors derived from several different subjects. PDGFRα+ mesenchymal progenitors were isolated from five subjects and cultured. Expression of histamine H1 receptor was examined by RT-PCR. Histamine H1 receptor was detected consistently in cells isolated from different subjects.
